Consumer Society Fauna - oil and gold leaf on card; rosettes
John Berger in his essay 'Why Look At Animals?', describes the practice of keeping pets as a 'modern innovation...part of that
universal but personal withdrawal into the private small family unit...which is such a distinguishing feature of consumer societies.
Pets are creatures of their owner's way of life..The pet completes him (the owner) offering responses to aspects of his character
which would otherwise remain unconfirmed'.

Hybrid Big Cats - oil on canvas.
Most hybrid animals result in human intervention, or the unnatural environment produced by captivity. It has no conservation merits,
as these animals never existed in the wild any way. Most Hybrid animals are infertile, nature's way of preventing cross breeding.
Various hybridisations amongst cats occurred back in the days when zoos wanted oddities to attract the public. These date back to
the 1800s, when zoos were more profit ran than conservation.
